Donations – the Power of Giving

Thank you for considering a gift to the Department of Recreational Sports. The financial commitment university students make to the department through student fees has historically made our programs an operational success. However, it is the much needed private philanthropy from our alumni and friends that will support current and future efforts to offer excellent services, facilities and opportunities to continue to build healthy Hokies.

A gift to the Department of Recreational Sports and Virginia Tech is an investment in the overall wellness of our students and the Hokie Nation. Your gift also supports positive outcomes in the classroom and in college life.

On this page, you can find information on how to donate to the department and to the department’s sport clubs.

The Department of Recreational Sports is home to 29 Sport Clubs and provides annual funding to each club. However, many clubs need to supplement the limited provided funding with annual donations and fundraising activities. Please note that donations made through the Virginia Tech Foundation are tax deductible. Donations made directly to a club, which may be deposited in an outside account, are not considered donations to the Virginia Tech Foundation and are therefore not tax deductible. Clubs have access to the Foundation funds for equipment purchases, travel costs, and other needs.
