McComas Hall opened to students in 1998 with 61,000 square feet of recreation space. As a result of the ever-increasing popularity of recreation, the facility was expanded by 26,000 square feet in 2010. Following the expansion, approximately 140 additional pieces of cardio equipment and 70 pieces of strength training equipment were added to the facility, making it possible to consider offering its use to university faculty and staff for the first time.
During the test program, which will now continue through the summer of 2013, memberships will be available to 250 full-time faculty and/or staff on a first-come, first-serve basis. To receive a membership, one must sign up online at the Recreational Sports website.
The membership fee will be $132.50 for each semester. Only credit and debit card payments will be accepted.
McComas Hall offers a 25-yard, eight-lane swimming pool; spin cycling room; weight training areas; cardio areas; basketball and volleyball courts; fitness studios; indoor elevated jogging track; shuffleboard, pool, and table tennis; and locker and shower facilities.
The McComas Hall hours during the 2012-2013 academic year, McComas Hall opens at 6:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and closes at midnight, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from noon to midnight.
McComas Hall will be closed on holidays, university breaks, and home football games. Special events may occasionally limit access to areas of the facility during the year.
