Allison has been with the department since 1993, in the capacities of Aquatics, Fitness and Instructional. She has received two master's degrees from Radford University, her most recent in Recreation Administration. Allison received her undergraduate degree from East Carolina University.
Her professional certifications include: National Swimming Pool Foundation Certified Pool & Spa Operator and Instructor; American Red Cross Instructor Trainer in Fundamentals of Instructor Training, Lifeguard Training, Water Safety Instruction and Work Place CPR/AED & First Aid; American Red Cross Instructor in Lifeguarding, Water Safety, CPRO/AED, Workplace CPR/AED/ First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens, Sports Safety Training, Responding to Emergencies and Wilderness First Aid; American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Instructor; National Parks And Recreation Aquatic Facility Operator; Aquatic Exercise Association Fitness Instructor; Aerobic & Fitness Association of America Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer; Yoga Fit Level I Instructor; NAUI Open water I Scuba Diver; and, NIRSA Certified Recreational Sports Specialist.
Allison's activities include: Professional Member of the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association; Girl Scout Leader for two Junior Level Troop; Faculty Advisor of the Sigma Lambda Chi Omega Fraternity chapter at Virginia Tech; Board of Directors, Ridgewood Swim Club; VT Women’s Leadership & Mentoring Program Board of Directors; and, Elementary PTA organization.
In her spare time, Allison enjoys swimming, traveling, and spending time with her husband Tony and three children-Taylor, Lauren and Lane.

Whitney is originally from Marietta, Georgia. She graduated in the spring of 2004 from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Education in Health Promotion and Behavior. In 2007, she received her master's degree in Health Promotion from Virginia Tech. She enjoys tennis, hanging out with her dog Mandy and being outdoors.
