About Wakeboard Club
The purpose of the Virginia Tech Wakeboard Club is to promote the sport of wakeboarding at VT and to provide an opportunity for all to learn how to wakeboard or improve their skills. We encourage everyone, from beginner to the most competitive riders to come out and ride with us. The club wakeboards seven days a week from April to October on the nearby Claytor Lake, 30 minutes southwest of the Virginia Tech campus. Overall, the Wakeboard Team competes in Regional’s during the Fall Semester and the Alt Games (formally known as Collegiate Nationals) during the Spring Semester.
Recent Events-
VT Wake Team placed 1st at the Eastern Regional Tournament hosted by the University of Kentucky. The UK Bluegrass Boardfest took place on Taylorsville Lake State Park September 12th. The team collegiate challenge consisted of combining the top scores of four men wakeboard riders, two women wakeboard riders, along with one wakeskate rider. Individual team members also took home numerous awards in several divisions.
The VT Wake Team is sponsored by EPIC Wakeboats along with Southern Ski Boats. Epic Boats generously donated an Epic 23V for the team to train on for Summer and Fall 2009.
