About Fencing Club
We provide 6 weeks of free beginner's lessons at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters! The next demo is on Thursday January 29, 2009 at 7:30 pm in War Memorial Gym 141. Lessons continue on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30 to 8:30 pm in the War Memorial Dance Room.
Each year the Virginia Tech Fencing Club fields a men's and women's team to compete in meets in Virginia and surrounding states. The men's team competes in the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association (MACFA) and the women's team competes in the Virginia Intercollegiate Women's Fencing Association (VIWFA) and the National Intercollegiate Women's Fencing Association (NIWFA). Both teams compete in the Southern Atlantic Conference (SAC) and the United States Association of Collegiate Fencing Clubs (USACFC).
The club is a member of the United States Fencing Association (USFA) providing fencing for college students and community members. Every fall the club hosts the Virginia Tech Open with the Virginia Division for the SFA; it has been one of the largest USFA meets in Virginia. Both beginning and experienced fencers are welcome to join our club.
