Group Exercise FAQ

How often can I attend group exercise classes?

it is up to you how many classes per week you plan to attend. It can vary week to week. Make your own schedule and try as many different classes as you can. See schedules

Which classes can I attend?

Make sure to read which classes are in each package. The full package will allow you the most flexibility. You can attend any class on the schedule. The War Package includes all the classes that are scheduled at War Memorial Gym. This is the only pass that Faculty and Staff are eligible to purchase. The Mind/Body Package includes all types of pilates and yoga classes at McComas and War Memorial Hall. See packages

Can I test out the classes before I sign up?

YES! During the first week of the academic classes of the Fall and Spring semester, a "Free Week" schedule is offered so that you can decide whether or not you wish to purchase a pass. If you miss Free Week, you can pick up a "One Time Pass" from 142 McComas Hall between 8am - 5pm, M-F. Cancellations and updates to the schedule will be posted online and at McComas and War Memorial Hall.

How do I register and pay for group exercise classes?

Register for fitness classes online. Payments may be accepted online using credit cards -- (Visa or Mastercard) or at McComas Hall using check, cash, Hokie Passport, or credit card. Once registration is completed, your Hokie Passport will be activated within 24 hours. When you attend the classes, bring your Hokie Passport to the Equipment Desk at War Memorial or the Service Desk at McComas Hall prior to the class. Classes are first come first served so get there early to pick up a pass. If you just registered and you want to attend a class right away, please bring your receipt with you in case your Hokie Passport has not been activated yet.

What is the refund / cancellation policy?

Refunds will only be given for cancellations based on medical reasons. Medical documentation will be required, and there will be a $10.00 administrative charge.

What clothing is appropriate for group exercises classes?

Appropriate clothing includes any of the following: sweat pants, shorts, t-shirts, sports bras, and spandex shorts. It is highly recommended that participants wear cross-training or fitness type shoes to protect them from injury. The following shoes will NOT be permitted: keds, sandals, boots, dress shoes, or shoes with marking soles.
