Gym Rules

Fitness Class Policies

  1. All participants must have a pass to take the class. Please present the pass to the instructor upon entering the studio. Passes may be obtained from the equipment desk by showing your Hokie Passport. Class participation is first come, first serve.
  2. Please arrive on time. It is unsafe to go into a class that has completed the warm-up.
  3. The following shoes will not be permitted: Keds, sandals, boots, dress shoes, or shoes with marking soles. Athletic-type shoes must be worn. Recommended shoes: It is highly recommended that participants wear cross-training type shoes to protect from injury.
  4. Please come dressed in appropriate athletic attire.
  5. Boxing circuit participants must have their own handwraps to participate. Handwraps may be purchased for $5 in 142 McComas Hall during regular business hours, M-F 8am-5pm.
  6. All cycling participants must bring a towel and a water bottle to the class.
  7. Please respect the instructor by following any enforced policies.
  8. Take the class at your own pace and have fun!
  9. If you are not a student over the summer, you must pay the fee to use McComas in order to attend fitness classes.
  10. Some students may be required to complete a medical release form before participating in fitness classes.

FREE Week of Group Exercise Classes August 25 - 31

All group exercise classes will be free the first week of school so potential participants can try out different classes prior to purchasing a pass. Classes will be offered in McComas Hall and War Memorial Hall. Class schedules and eligibility requirements


NEW War Memorial Fitness Pass

Faculty, staff, and eligible War Memorial Hall users can now purchase a semester ($25) or a year ($47) fitness pass to attend group exercises in War Memorial Hall. FREE Week, Aug 25 - 31, is offered for WMH Group Exercise classes so potential participants can try out classes prior to purchasing a pass, no need to register for FREE week, just show up.
