Children's Instructional Gymnastics Program
Registration Information:
Register online starting May 21, 2012. All payments must be made online or in person at the Rec Sports Office (142 McComas Hall). Registrations/payments will not be accepted on site at the time of the lessons. Guests are not permitted to register or participate in instructional classes.
Refund/Transfer
A refund request will only be eligible for 75% of the original price paid for a class if made prior to the end of the registration period. Refunds requested after the registration period of the session will be denied. If you wish to transfer your payment to another session due to the inability to attend your original because of illness, injury, etc., please contact Nigel Harris at nigelh@vt.eduor 540-231-9917.
Class Cancellation
Class capacity is determined per class and the classes must meet a minimum number of participants to be held. Classes with fewer than the minimum participants will be canceled. This will be determined during this first week of the session. Participants may move to another class or receive a full refund.
Class Descriptions
Tumble Tots Class is designed to help build coordination skills for 2 and 3 year olds. The class will use various mats, beams, trampolines and obstacles on the floor. Parent participation is REQUIRED.
Tumble Foundations - Designed for the beginner gymnast. These classes aim to improve flexibility, coordination and balance. Basic gymnastic skills will be taught on the floor, beam, bars, vault and trampoline.
Tumble Basics I & II - Designed for the intermediate gymnast. These classes aim to improve flexibility, coordination and balance. Basic gymnastic skills will be taught on the floor, beam, bars, vault and trampoline.
Boys' Tumble - Designed to include the specific men's events such as: floor, vault, trampoline, pommel horse, rings, parallel bars, and high bar.
Tumble Advanced I & II - Designed for children that have progressed past the intermediate level. The classes will be offered twice a week and will include strength exercises. All women's events will be practiced with females and all Men's events will be practiced with males.
Private Lessons - Designed to provide one-on-one instruction for intermediate and advanced gymnast, with an instructor of your choice. These classes may be taken in addition to a regular class or by themselves. The lessons are set at a time which is convenient for both you and the instructor. Private lessons are for one participant. Multiple participants are not allowed to split the cost of the package.
Additional Information
No experience necessary, however we will have you complete a skill form and medical form on your child.
There will be a parent/guardian orientation during the first class. All parents/guardians are encouraged to attend.
We ask that a parent or guardian attend or stay in the facility throughout each class.
Parents or guardians will be responsible for picking up the children immediately after class. THIS ADULT MUST COME TO THE GYMNASTICS ROOM TO PICK UP THE CHILD. The gymnastics supervisor will remain with any child who is left at the conclusion of class and will contact the parents. PLEASE INSTRUCT YOUR CHILD TO REMAIN WITH THE SUPERVISOR IF YOU FAIL TO SHOW UP ON TIME!

Inclement Weather Policy - Weekday Classes - Classes will be cancelled only if the University is closed. Weekend Classes - In the case of inclement weather, a decision will be made at 8:00 AM and instructors will begin calling all weekend participants if the program is cancelled.
