2009-2010 Policy Changes

    • Team Registration Fee Increase
The fees for team registrations have all increased by $5 for the 2009-2010 academic year. This is the first fee increase in over 12 years and is necessary to help offset the increasing minimum wage costs. The cost for an individual who registers needing to be placed on a team will increase by $2 from $5 to $7. The following is the list of 2009-2010 Team Registration Fees (please note that on the Registration Page, price listed is $20 more than listed here. This $20 additional increase is a refundable Forfeit Bond. For more information on the Forfeit Bond policy, please see below. This Forfeit Bond does not apply to Fantasy Football):
      • $70 / team - Team Bowling
      • $45 / team - 9-on-9 Soccer, Freshman 5-on-5 Basketball, Volleyball, Flag Football, 5-on-5 Basketball, Softball, USOA Indoor Soccer Tournament
      • $30 / team - 3-on-3 Basketball, USOA Flag Football Tournament, USOA 5-on-5 Basketball Tournament, Team Darts, USOA Dodgeball Tournament, Innertube Water Polo, Wallyball
      • $15 / team - Fantasy Football
  • Forfeit Bond Policy
All teams will be required to submit a $20 Forfeit Bond per team at the time of registration (this fee will already be factored into the team registration fee listed on the Registration Page. For example, the team registration fee for 9-on-9 Soccer will show $65 / team, $20 of which is the Forfeit Bond). Waiting List teams will be required to pay the Forfeit Bond and Entry Fee at the time of registration as well. A team's registration will not be considered complete until this bond is paid along with the team registration fee. This Forfeit Bond is refundable provided the team does not forfeit (including 2 defaults) during round robin play or forfeit/default during the playoffs. Teams that forfeit (or default twice) during round robin play will lose their $20 Forfeit Bond and be required to pay a $20 Reinstatement Fee of the Forfeit Bond in order to remain in the league. As with previous Reinstatement Fees, a team will have until 5pm on the 2nd business day after the forfeit to pay the reinstatement fee before they are replaced in the league by a waiting list team (for weekend USOA tournaments, teams must pay this reinstatement fee to the site supervisor prior to their next scheduled game). Teams that forfeit in the playoffs will lose their $20 Forfeit Bond with no opportunity for a refund and will be removed from the playoffs (this applies to all 3 divisions {Advanced, Intermediate, Beginner} as well as to 3rd Place Games). Teams that default during the playoffs will lose $10 of their $20 Forfeit Bond, allowing for only a $10 refund of the bond, as well as being removed from the playoffs. This policy change is being implemented to curtail the rising number of forfeits occuring in Intramural Sports, especially during the playoffs. Teams who have a balance greater than $0 in the Forfeit Bond account at the end of a sport season will be able to request a refund of their Forfeit Bond account balance. For all Fall Sports, this refund request must be made by December 20th of the fall semester the team registered for. For all Spring Sports, this refund request must be made by May 20th of the spring semester the team registered for.
