Ali began working as a graduate assistant with the Recreational Sports department at Virginia Tech in 1999. She received her undergraduate degree in Sports Medicine with an Exercise Physiology emphasis in 1999 from the University of Southern Mississippi and her master's degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology from Virginia Tech in 2002. Her certifications include: American College of Sports Medicine Health Fitness Instructor (ACSM HFI); American Council on Exercise (ACE); Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA); Yogafit Level 1; Zumba Instructor; Les Mills Body Step Instructor; Turbokick Instructor; and, Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA). Ali is a National Intramural and Recreational Sports (NIRSA) School of Management Graduate and served on the NIRSA Fitness Committee in 2004. She is actively involved with the following Virginia Tech committees: Virginia Tech Women’s Leadership Program (2006); Hokie Camp Development Committee; DSA Staff Development Committee; Hokie Hi Development Committee; and, the DSA SACS Review Team. In her spare time, Ali enjoys running, working out, biking, and spending time with her dogs Sammie and Parker.
