Schiffert Health Center
Schiffert Health Center offers one-on-one appointments with a Registered Dietitian for students who need individualized nutrition counseling. Any student may utilize this service, but it is highly recommended for students with a referral from a medical or counseling provider; students who have significant food or body image concerns; or students who have attended the Hokie Wellness Nutrition 101 Workshop and need to meet with a Schiffert Health Center registered dietitian. Students must call to schedule an appointment and there is no additional charge for this service.
Our registered dietitians will work with students to provide personalized nutrition counseling. From managing chronic diseases, adjusting to food intolerances, or simply navigating the abundant amount of dietary misinformation, our dietitians can provide advice and guidance. Examples of topics they can assist with include veganism, vegetarianism, weight management (loss, gain, postpartum), disordered eating, exercise nutrition, diabetes (Type1 and Type2), gastrointestinal distress, irritable bowel syndrome, and celiac disease.
Additionally, individual nutrition counseling services are available through the Department of Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise. Upper level nutrition students provide free one on one counseling sessions to students free. Issues covered range from basic nutrition, grocery planning and shopping for quick and healthy meals, weight management, nutrition and exercise, and much more. Registration begins in September.
Students with food allergies, and their parents, are often concerned about the risk of an allergic reaction on campus. We recommend these students always carry their emergency medication with them, such as epinephrine pens and Benadryl. Students are also encouraged to notify friends, roommates, and their residential advisor of their food allergy if they are comfortable sharing this information. Other options include wearing an allergy alert bracelet or necklace.
Dining Services at Virginia Tech is dedicated to providing students with special diets information and options. Students can utilize the interactive nutrition page to find full nutrition and ingredient lists for all dining hall items. Through the Y.E.S. program, those with specific nutrition concerns or need help finding appropriate foods, can speak with one of Dining Services' Registered Dietitians for individualized assistance.

Intramural Sports have started as well! $20 for a full membership that will allow you to participate in all team sports, singles/doubles activities or special events all year long. Whether you want to compete or just have fun Intramurals is a great way to stay active and meet friends!
