3.2-Mile Run in Remembrance
Saturday, April 14 @ 9:00 a.m.
On April 14th, the Virginia Tech community reflects on the vibrant lives of the 32 students and faculty who were tragically taken from us on April 16, 2007. This community run/walk throughout the campus of VT strives to bring fellow Hokies together, to feel the support of the community, and to celebrate the lives of our friends and family members.
Registration is still open!
We also need volunteers to help put on the run. If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up here!

Bag Drop Station
For anyone who would like to drop off a bag before the run on Saturday, feel free to use our bag drop station.
The Bag Drop Station will be located on the Drillfield. Look for the tents on the Drillfield with the banner “Bag Drop.” Below is the process to follow for using the Bag Drop service.
Follow these steps:
At check-in, make sure you get a race bib.
Tell the check-in staff member that you plan to use the bag drop so they can record your bib number as they scan your QR Code.
- Tear off the bottom portion of your race bib and attach this to your bag using a zip tie provided at the bag drop station.
- Bring your bag with the bottom portion of your bib attached to the bag drop station on the Drillfield.
- Please make sure to hand your bag to a bag drop station staff before leaving the area. This will ensure that we can keep your bag secure during the event.
- To pick up your bag at the end of the event, please show your bib so the staff member can retrieve your belongings. Please pick up bags by 11:45am.
** We do not have bags so please bring your own bag with you**
START LINE is in front of War Memorial Hall on the Drillfield Drive
Start will take place in 3 Waves (separated by several minutes) to keep the event safe and pleasant for all runners/walkers. All 3 waves will be separated by maroon and orange balloon arches.
Please arrive at the startline at 8:40am.
At 9:00am, we will have a moment of silence. Please be on the lookout for the white balloon arch and the “MOMENT OF SILENCE” signs to signal the start of 32 seconds of silence.
At the end of the 32 seconds, Wave 1 runners will be signaled to start running. Waves 2 and 3 will follow.
That will be your only signal the event has started – there will not be any other prompt. Enjoy the run and the people around you!
To view the route map click here
The route includes Lane Stadium by entering through the TUNNEL that the football team enters through for every home game. Since this does get narrow and slower, feel free to use the ALTERNATE route and bypass the stadium if you prefer. All runners and walkers will have to use the ALTERNATE ROUTE AFTER 10:30 am. As long as you pass the stadium by 10:30 am, you can still go through the tunnel.
Please leave your pets at home. If you do bring a pet, you will need to take the alternate route instead of walking through the stadium. No Pets will be allowed inside the stadium!
At the start: Located inside War Memorial Hall & a few port-a-johns located outside of War Memorial Hall.
At water stations: port-a-johns are available
Water Station 1 – located on Washington Street in front of the Smith Career Services Building
Water Station 2 – located at 417 Clay Street building
After the run, please feel free to enjoy the bananas, pretzels or bottled water that will be located at the finish line.
The event will take place rain or shine. In case of inclement weather, check www.vt.edu for announcements about all of the Day of Remembrance activities and updates.
