There are so many great ways to get active and so many awesome reasons to move more. Being active can help with focus, academic performance, stress level, sleep, anxiety, and depression. Not to mention it can make you feel great and can even be a ton of fun. We want to help you find YOUR way of being active!

      • Group Exercise

        Group Exercise is a great way to stay motivated in your fitness routine. These workouts are prepared and led by our certified instructors and are guaranteed to bring you a fun and exciting fitness experience. We offer over 100 classes a week - everything from bootcamp and spin to yoga and BODYPUMP™. We're sure you'll find a class you love that works with your schedule.

      • Personal Training

        Personal trainers walk beside their clients throughout their fitness journey providing new workouts, form assistance, motivation, accountability, and encouragement. Personal trainers are great if you are new to exercise or an active person who is looking to change up your routine or anyone in between!

      • Small Group Training

        In the small group format, classes are limited to 12 people so you get individual attention from a coach. The group of people you are working out with is consistent so there is a sense of community, accountability, and motivation. Small group training sessions run for six weeks, meeting twice a week for 12 total trainings.

      • Dance

        The dance program is an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to learn a style of dance in a non-competitive recreational setting. Our dance classes are designed to teach the basic techniques and terminologies of each individual format through a six-week session. These classes are perfect for those who used to dance or who want to learn to dance.

      • Olympic Lifting

        Held in War Memorial Hall Multi-B, olympic lifting open recreation allows the Virginia Tech community to engage in a strength training regimen where participants can perform olympic lifts (clean, snatch, jerk) in a safe environment. To utilize open lifting open recreation, participants will need to sign-up for a testout and be cleared before beginning the program.

      • Swim

        Swimming is a great workout. It is low impact, serves as both a cardio and strength workout, is great for your lungs, can make you a better runner, works typically underworked muscles, and anyone can do it (if you don't know how to swim - don't worry, we offer lessons!). We have a pool in McComas Hall and War Memorial Hall to offer you multiple opportunities to swim.

      • Venture Out

        We live in one of the most beautiful areas of the country. Outdoor recreation is an excellent way to see the area, explore, and be active. Our outdoor recreation program is called Venture Out and provides fun, safe, and educational outdoor services to students, faculty, staff, and community members.

      • Golf Course

        Open to all students, faculty/staff and public. Play is on Mondays or Tuesdays.
