Hokie Rox

Hokie Rox Logo

HOKIE•ROX, presented by Recreational Sports, is a partner fitness race that combines endurance and functional training in one continuous challenge.

Teams of two move through a structured course that alternates running and workout stations, testing strategy, stamina, and teamwork.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Partners complete a ½-mile run, followed by one functional fitness station.
  • This sequence repeats eight times throughout the event.
  • Both partners must complete every run, but you may divide the workout stations however you.

COURSE LAYOUT & WORKOUT STATIONS

  • Running segments will loop around the SRA Fields.
  • Functional fitness stations will be set up directly on the SRA Fields course area.

Workout

  • Damper setting: 5

  • Distance: 1000 meters

Description
Participants use an upper-body cardio machine that simulates cross-country skiing. Athletes pull two handles downward in a repeated motion to generate power and move the machine’s flywheel until the required distance is completed.

Workout

  • Damper setting: 5

  • Distance: 1000 meters

Description
Participants sit on a rowing machine and perform a rowing motion using legs, core, and arms. The seat slides forward and backward on a rail while pulling a handle connected to a flywheel until the distance goal is reached.

Workout

  • Weight: 25 lb plates

  • Repetitions: 85

Description
Participants hold weighted plates and perform a squat followed by an overhead press in one continuous movement. Each repetition requires lowering into a squat and then standing while pressing the weight overhead.

Workout

  • Repetitions: 150

Description
Participants move laterally over a low bench or platform. Each repetition requires jumping or stepping from one side of the bench to the other while clearing the surface.

Workout

  • Weight: 175 lbs (5 × 35 lb plates)

  • Distance: 50 meters (164 ft total)

Description
Participants pull a weighted sled using a rope or harness across the field surface. The sled slides along the ground as the athlete walks backward or forward to complete the total distance.

Workout

  • Weight: 22 lbs

  • Distance: 100 meters

Description
Participants carry a sandbag on the shoulders or upper back while performing forward lunges. Each step involves lowering one knee toward the ground and standing back up while moving forward along the course.

Workout

  • Weight: 45 lb plates

  • Distance: 200 meters

Description
Participants carry weighted plates in each hand while walking a set distance. This movement challenges grip strength, posture, and stability during the walk.

Workout

  • Distance: 80 meters (262 ft)
