“If you feel something is worth doing, just go for it,” said Sport Club Supervisor Manolo Anleu Tuquer. “I found this job posting on Facebook, and applied on the fly because it interested me. The rest is history.”

Manolo will graduate in May with a degree in Human Nutrition, Food, and Exercise. Early into his undergraduate experience, he landed a job with Dining Services at Turner Place, but his desire to work with sport teams brought him to employment with Rec Sports.

“I just love getting to work with Rec Sports staff and sport clubs. I love the close-knit aspect of what a team provides, both with my coworkers and with the clubs themselves. It’s even made me get out more and be more active in my life as well.”

As a Sport Club Supervisor, Manolo is a part of an eight-person staff that completes the behind the scenes work for club administration and governance. Office work includes financial administration, club meetings, and assisting Sport Clubs’ three professional staff members. Site work includes monitoring fields and ensuring clubs have what they need to be successful. Supervisors are also first responders for emergency situations.

As his undergraduate years come to a close, Manolo takes with him many fond memories.

“Some of the top memories include the little things like hanging out with friends and meeting new people. Football games, moving into my dorm knowing I got accepted to be at such an amazing school. Oh yeah, and you can’t forget Sunday Brunch at D2.”

Manolo is currently applying for graduate school in the field of nutritional physical performance and aspires to be a physical therapist or athletic trainer for a sports team.
